The circuit connects two remarkable places in the Almenland: St. Kathrein am Offenegg and Brandlucken. The town of St. Kathrein am Offenegg, with about 1000 inhabitants, is known far beyond the borders of Styria for numerous special features. St. Kathrein has been named the most beautiful flower village of Styria several times and once chosen as the European Flower Village. Right next to the church is the hotel "Der WILDe Eder," where you can sweeten your day with delicacies from the world champion confectioner and patissier Eveline Wild. On the Rowanberry Hiking Trail, you can learn interesting facts about the pea-sized, bright orange-red fruit, and with the extensive mountain pass landscape around Brandlucken at 1132 m, you reach a tourist secret tip, as here on a very small area you will find cozy places to stop and stay overnight, a famous open-air theater, and the small Styrian supermarket "Die Greißlerei."
The hike starts from the parking lot above the elementary school of St. Kathrein am Offenegg, 970 m. Nearby, we see signposts marked "Vogelbeer-Panoramaweg" (Rowanberry Panorama Trail). We first follow this themed trail, hiking slightly uphill and then turning right after the houses to continue uphill along the forest edge. The higher we go, the more beautiful the view of the Passailer basin becomes. The path is designed with information boards, rest areas, a horseshoe-shaped landscape picture frame, the Forest Sound Sofa, and the Forest Sound Oasis, and also leads past the Schwoaghofer pond with a self-service fountain. Shortly after, at Schwoaghofer Höhe, we leave the Rowanberry Panorama Trail, which we will meet again towards the end of the hike. We turn left and at the next crossroad again left to reach the strike cross, 1122 m. At the crossing, we go right below the forest road into the forest. The signboard for the Bear Loop helps us with orientation. The path goes slightly
