Passing historical buildings in the village, the path leads past the Wappenschmiede into a varied mixed forest. A gentle ascent, partly through open pine woods, after about 2/3 of the way leads onto the vine-covered plateau of the Wolfssteig nature reserve. Immediately after the chestnut forest of Zimmer-Berg, the beautiful view over the Rhine plain is a surprise. The beginning of the path, with the two churches, the water castle, and historical Wappenschmiede, offers insight into the history of the village. The circular path through forest and vineyard highlights the interesting location of the village between the Rhine plain and the Palatinate Forest. Information boards at prominent points explain the special features of the geology and rocks.
CAREFUL! - Campaign for respectful coexistence in nature
Always behave considerately, kindly, and thoughtfully towards everyone you meet on your way.
Pay attention to nature, do not destroy plants, and always stay on the paths. Try to avoid excessive noise and leave the forest before dusk.
Remember a trash bag for on the way and take your waste back home.
Please keep your dog on a leash at all times. Other visitors and animals will thank you.
For your own safety, observe all path closures, including on weekends.
Park only in designated parking areas. Leave space for emergency vehicles and agricultural machinery.
Give priority to agricultural and forestry traffic.

Safety information

General advice:
Especially in autumn, pay attention as fallen leaves on the ground can obscure unevenness, roots, stones, or holes in the path. After thunderstorms or heavy rain, trees may still fall or branches may break off. In adverse weather conditions, natural paths can be muddy and slippery in sections. Not all rocks or cliffs are secured with ropes or railings. Surefootedness is sometimes required. You must expect such path impairments when hiking. If you think certain sections are impassable for you, you should avoid them.
NOTE:
We strive to announce all closures due to forestry work or hunting groups on this platform. Nevertheless, there are situations where hiking trails are closed and we may not have been informed. If you unexpectedly encounter a path closure or detour, please follow the instructions for your own safety.
