Seven days in the Karwendel already gives a good impression and is certainly enough to fall in love with the mountain range. However, truly getting to know it – with all its highs and lows – usually takes a bit longer. Also, some shorter "Karwendel dates" in advance – for practice – definitely won't hurt, otherwise the big tour can become really exhausting and for some "inexperienced" perhaps even frightening.
Day 1: From Krün we hike via the Fischbachalm to the idyllic Soiernhaus situated by the lakes of the same name.Day 2: From the Soiernhaus we ascend the deep saddle between Soiern and Krapfenkarspitze (see picture), circle the massif to the south, and descend to the Fereinalm via the Jöchel. We then reach the Hochlandhütte via the Wörnersattel.Day 3: From the Hochlandhütte we head back to the Wörnersattel and then cross over to the Bäralplsattel via the marked Gjaidsteig (absolute surefootedness and freedom from dizziness required). From the wide saddle over the broad southern slopes beneath Vogelkar and Östliche Karwendelspitze to the Karwendelhaus.Day 4: From the Karwendelhaus we labor our way up to the highest Karwendel peak, the Birkkarspitze; almost effortlessly, we descend southwards from the Schlauchkarsattel down through the Birkkar to the Kastenalm in the Hinterautal. Another ascent leads us up to the Hallerangerhaus.Day 5: From the Hallerangerhaus we hike under the rock walls
