Anyone who wants to get to know a hiking region more closely should start directly from the villages, as this immediately provides a good geographical reference. The hike from Stubenberg am See to the northwestern mountain ridge is a good example of this. After leaving the small, manageable village center, you soon enter a natural environment and hike along deciduous and mixed forests, through ditches and over tended cultivated areas uphill. The higher you get, the more you can see the small-scale agricultural structures. Forest and meadow areas alternate next to each other and offer the viewer a soothing overall impression, which is completed by the view of Lake Stubenberg. This view can only be surpassed from the air in a balloon ride, a gentle form of movement that has been a tradition here for many years. Two European and two World Championships in ballooning have already taken place in Stubenberg/Schielleiten. Also noteworthy is "A Castle Full of Surprises" – a motto on the homepage of the Austrian Sports Resorts Schloss Schielleiten. The "Schönbrunn yellow" Baroque castle from the late 17th century with a magnificent park around it is well known far beyond the borders of Styria and is located near the town of Stubenberg am See.

The red-white-red marking can be seen on a concrete pillar or a mail distribution point. We enter the forest, go slightly downhill, then over a bridge and subsequently uphill on the left side of the ditch. The path leads along the forest edge to an asphalt road. We hike uphill until shortly before a left turn a barn building stands on the right side and a red-white-red marking arrow is visible. Past the barn building and along the forest edge uphill. The next entry is not clear because the marking is
