The hike starts in Mürren and first goes up to Allmendhubel. Then the trail leads through the rocky and steep Kanonenrohr to the Schilthorn hut. This section is in winter also part of the famous INFERNO mass descent and in summer part of the running course of the INFERNO Triathlon. After a short refreshment at the Schilthorn hut, the path continues through the Engetal towards Grauseeli. The descent down to Schiltalp is steep with larger drops and quite demanding. Finally, follow the Northface trail to Suppenalp. Then only a few altitude meters remain to Mürren.

The hiking route can also be shortened at will (with Schilthorn cable car Mürren - Birg).

    Author’s recommendation

The reservoir lake below the Schilthorn hut can be reached via a small unmarked path.

    Equipment

    • The sun exposure is increased in the mountains. Sunscreen with a high protection factor, sunhat, and sunglasses with UV protection are definitely part of the gear.
    • Also in summer and in good "starting weather", warm clothing and rain protection must be with you. The layering principle with different layers of clothing is recommended.
    • Charged mobile phone
    • First aid kit
