Graslitzen, 2044 m
Like the two neighboring peaks Spitzegel and Vellacher Egel, the eastern adjoining Graslitzen also offers a circular tour with a large altitude difference – including magnificent views down into the Gail Valley and the mountain world to the north as well as to the south.
From the Förolach bus stop (or from the parking lot in front of the church) we head north, past the village fountain where a pole adorned with many yellow signs stands. For this, careful attention is needed about 400 m further: only a scribbled “54” points the way to the right. After another 100 m we turn left at the junction toward Förolacher Alm, 665 m. The path is well marked but only moderately maintained and climbs through steep mixed forest where in late summer you’ll brush spider webs off your head. In the Almgraben, there are no switchbacks but a direct ascent until you leave the gorge after about an hour at approximately 1050 m altitude. Then it becomes a bit easier but still gains good elevation. After a hunting hut at 1454 m, the terrain gradually opens up. At about 1700 m elevation, a traverse to the left follows until after about three hours you reach the Gailtal High Trail (GHW 229), 1865 m.
