Dražice lies on the edge of the Risnjak National Park with mountain peaks up to 1500 m high. From Dražice, you can reach the Platak ski area and a huge automotodrome, the noise of which can be heard throughout the entire plateau. Dražice has a nice center with shops and gastronomy. The bus station for the return trip to Rijeka is also located here.

Safety information
The path is not marked. For safety, either good maps or a smartphone including a power bank should be carried. Those who want to avoid the steep and rocky downhill forest path can use a slightly western located farm road, which is asphalted at the lower end as an access to houses and joins the route at the Marian Chapel (photo).

The downhill path can be found via an entrance in the outer fortress wall of the castle complex (photo). A small opening is marked with an arrow labeled DZ in red. From here it goes steeply downhill through former gardens, bordered by laboriously built stone walls. With today unimaginable effort, the inhabitants wrested agricultural land from the rugged slopes, dug tons of rock out of the ground, stacked them into dry stone walls (Croatian: Suhozidi) and thus created terraced fields that look like the remains of a prehistoric fortress. For several decades now, nature has been reclaiming these areas; instead of bustling activity, the silence of the forest prevails.
The steep and rocky path through the forest is not marked but is apparently regularly used and thus easily recognizable. It ends in the valley at a small group of houses (Zastenice) and a bus stop Skaroni, which, however, is not frequently served. The stream in the valley is crossed by a bridge passable by vehicles. Past some isolated buildings, a track leads up to the outskirts of Dražice.
The bus line 12 returns to Rijeka.
