Graal-Müritz offers beautiful white beaches and chains of dunes, promenades and old spa architecture. The latter is reminiscent of the heyday of the 1920s, when famous writers, including Franz Kafka, Erich Kästner and Lionel Feininger, came to this seaside resort. The rhododendron park at the western turning point of the walk provides a colorful sea of flowers in late spring. Otherwise, the townscape is dominated by pine trees, which used to be tapped to extract resin; in the GDR, the resin collected was used as a raw material in the chemical industry, for example for the production of turpentine.
From Graal-Müritz train station, we head towards the coast with the 350 m long Graal-Müritz pier and follow the promenade to the left, which later joins the coastal cycle path at a playground. Continue through the left-hand bend past the beach access and the map of Nordic walking routes. 100 m after the junction, we reach a crossroads with the entrance to the rhododendron park on the left.Here we turn half left southwards through the forest - alternatively we can turn left through the rhododendron park. After 200 m, there is a 100 m detour to the Mahlbusen with an enjoyable boardwalk to a viewing pavilion. The 200 m long and 45 m wide Mahlbusen serves as a water reservoir and retention basin for the runoff from the Rostock Heath with a water level of around 0.45 m below sea level.50 m after the detour to the Mahlbusen, we turn left past an ice cream parlor and then follow the cycle path to the right of the parking lot in the direction of Warnemünde. 50 m after a bridge, we leave the
