Gossersweiler-Stein Eichelberg Trail
Short walk over the Eichelberg with two great viewpoints.
Opposite the tennis courts in the district of Stein, we start the route by turning into the forest on the other side of the street. First, we follow the wide path, then turn right and take the trail to the Kriemhildenstein. After the rock, we continue uphill along the path. On the ridge, you can make a detour to the "Stäner 4-Castle View," which rewards us with a great view over the district of Stein. Returning to the path, we reach the viewpoint "Beautiful View" where we can enjoy the view over the Palatinate Forest and the Lindelbrunn ruins. Then we follow the zigzag path steeply downhill and come across a small cozy rest area. The path continues on the wide trail around the Eichelberg back to the starting point.
WATCH OUT! – Campaign for respectful coexistence in nature
- Always behave considerately, friendly and with foresight towards everyone you meet on the way.
- Respect nature, do not destroy plants and always stay on the paths. Try to avoid excessive noise and leave the forest before dusk.
- Remember to take a rubbish bag with you and take your waste back home.
- Please keep your dog on a leash at all times. Other visitors and animals will thank you.
- For your own safety, observe all path closures, including on weekends.
- Park only in designated parking areas. Leave space for emergency vehicles and agricultural machinery.
- Give priority to agricultural and forestry traffic.
Author’s recommendation
Beautiful circular route for a short walk. A few meters of altitude must be overcome, which are definitely worth it: two great viewpoints and a fantastic rock.

Safety information
General information:
Especially in autumn, be aware that the fallen leaves on the ground can cover unevenness, roots, stones, or holes in the path. After thunderstorms or heavy rain, trees can still fall or branches drop afterwards. Especially in adverse weather conditions, natural paths may have muddy and slippery sections. Not all rocks or precipices are secured with ropes or railings. Surefootedness is required in some places. You should expect these kinds of path impairments when hiking. If you believe certain sections are impassable for you, you should avoid them.
NOTE:
We strive to announce all closures due to forestry work or hunting societies on this platform. Nevertheless, situations can arise where trails are closed and we may not have been informed. If you unexpectedly encounter a path closure or detour, please follow the instructions for your own safety.
