Caution in the area of the rocks. There is always a risk of falling!Tips and suggestions
One of the most beautiful routes in the Wasgau is the circular hike that runs along the German-French border and allows visits to the castle group Wegelnburg, Hohenburg, Löwenstein and Fleckenstein. Furthermore, the hike passes by a historic mine which can be visited. The starting point of this circular hike is the town of Nothweiler, about 9 km from Berwartstein. You can also find the route "Nothweiler - 4 castles and 1 mine" under the keyword "Wanderfex". Here is the link:

Roadbook
It is best to get the GPX file onto your phone because the route goes crisscross through the Palatinate Forest. Here is a rough route description:
- The official starting point of the Felsenweg is the parking lot on the street "Am Kaiserbach" opposite the community center in Gossersweiler. Our starting point is the parking lot on the Alte Landstraße at the village entrance or the St. Cyriakus Church.
- First, walk along the Alte Landstraße (L494) towards Stein. At the edge of the forest, a sign "Felsenmeer" points steeply uphill to the right.
- Hike clockwise on the Felsenweg Gossersweiler-Stein (mountain with cross and the designation "Felsenweg") to the fork "north of Isselmannsteine 353 m" (approx. 7.5 km). Here turn right.
- After a few steps, you also see the tournament/riding arena of the Gossersweiler-Stein riding club. There, an inconspicuous, narrow path branches off to the right from the wide forest road. On maps it is called Vogelpfad and leads to the football/sports field of SV Gossersweiler-Stein, but it has no markings or designations (as of 8/2025).
- Continue to follow the narrow path, which passes the Catholic kindergarten St. Elisabeth and then goes down stairs to Gossersweiler.
- Now head towards the church.
