Gonfienti Loop

You can start at Ponte alla Vittoria near the Central Railway Station and, following the pedestrian and cycle path along the Bisenzio River, reach the meander where the Etruscan river port of Gonfienti is believed to have been located. The Etruscan city, still under excavation, was discovered during the construction of the Central Tuscany interport. To complete the Gonfienti loop, you cross the interport structure itself (passing through two turnstiles) reaching the old foothill road which must have been already traced in the Etruscan period, returning towards Prato. Here you can enjoy a widespread view over the entire plain, among small churches, villas, and cultivated fields.
You descend again near the "Salita dei Cappuccini".
