The Gleinkersee is not only a scenic highlight of the Windischgarstner region, but it also has its merits as a bathing lake. Of course, we first enjoy the wonderful atmosphere or refresh ourselves at the Seebauer inn on the north shore before continuing to hike to the giant spring of the Pießling-Ursprung. With an "output" of 2,000 liters of water per second from the siphon-shaped cave – during snowmelt or after storms even up to 7,000 liters (enough to cover the daily water demand of around 700,000 people) – the Pießling-Ursprung on the slopes of the Warscheneck is one of the largest karst springs in the Eastern Alps. And all this is embedded in a large round route that takes us to the town of Roßleithen with its famous scythe hammer and then through extensive forests back to the starting point. In total, this creates a pleasant family round trip to natural beauties and technical monuments, for which one should reserve a whole day, especially if planning a bathing stop.
From the Gleinkersee parking lot, take the asphalt road with trail no. 1 westwards through meadows up to the hill at the former Tommerl guesthouse and from there to a junction at a turnstile. Turn right and follow footpath no. 1 through a wooded area northwest down to a forest road, then keep left (Roßleithen Sensethemes path with brown scythe logo) downhill through the forest to an asphalt road. Follow it past the Koglerhütte holiday home, southwards downhill through meadows, finally in loops down to an important junction (signs) with a bench. Turn left onto a footpath through the forest heading south, steeply downhill into the Pießling valley, then cross the stream and a pipeline (wooden bridge) to the intersecting natural vehicle trail (right to Roßleithen). Follow this trail (no. 293) beside the stream upwards to the next junction (trail no. 293 branches off right to the Dümlerhütte). Keep left to an information point 750 m away (table and benches) in front of the cascading
