GeoTour: Over the Lehenkopf and the Dachsberg
The Hotzenwald south of the cathedral city of St. Blasien is one of the more tranquil sub-regions in the Black Forest. Away from the mainstream on Feldberg, Schauinsland and Belchen, visitors will find neither hut fun nor ski lifts, but instead magical hiking experiences and beautiful views of the Jura and the Alps. The region also has a number of geo-related places worth seeing, some of which we will visit today. Our varied day tour - you really should plan enough time for breaks on this excursion - takes us from the imposing Black Forest Cathedral to the Lehenkopf, which has been upgraded with a viewing tower, around the Horbacher Moor and to the mining playground at the Friedrich-August-Grube.
