The first daring development of the once inaccessible Galitzen Gorge dates back to 1887. A wooden staircase construction attached to vertical walls first opened access to the wild and romantic gorge. It was already visited by tourists in 1891, before the climbing facility fell into disrepair and was forgotten. After years of difficult construction, a new beginning was made in June 2001 with a water show path, water playground, forest rope park, children's adventure mile, and much more. As a good complement, there are via ferratas of various difficulties.
In October 2018, a storm destroyed the Galitzen Gorge snack station and the water adventure world facility completely. With financial help from the state of Tyrol, municipalities, and numerous selflessly active helpers, everything was reopened more beautifully than before in May 2019.
The Galitzen Gorge water show path is especially a worthwhile destination for families and can also be walked with toddlers. From the gorge entrance, a paved path and climbing facility with stairs, steps, and a viewing platform leads up to the High Bridge and offers views of three waterfalls and the raging Galitzenbach below with its sources in the inner Kerschbaumertal. The same path leads back to the gorge entrance. Additionally, the water show path in the Galitzen Gorge is enriched by five via ferratas. Right at the entrance of the gorge is the short family via ferrata (45 min climbing time, 70 m elevation, 200 m climbing length, difficulty B). It is continuously secured by cables, partly exposed, and passes over two iron ladders in steep sections. It is suitable for children aged 10 and above.Experienced climbers can tackle the Galitzen Gorge via ferrata (0.45–1 hr climbing time, 75 m elevation, 210 m climbing length, difficulty B, several sections C, emergency exit in the middle
