The hike to the Gaisalp lakes is extraordinarily varied and impressive. Right at the beginning, an exciting gorge trail leads through the small but entertaining Reichenbach ravine (also Gaisalp ravine). Here, the Gaisalp stream has created a wild, romantic primeval landscape. The pasture land around the Gaisalpe then appears all the more charming. The two mountain lakes lie in picturesque basins, dominated by the mighty mountain massif of the Rubihorn. On warm days, taking a plunge into the cool mountain lake water is a delight.
From the parking lot at Reichenbach, we follow the asphalt road along the Gaisbach stream uphill and turn off after a bridge, at a right-hand bend, onto the ravine path. It initially runs flat along the shore, but soon becomes a narrow path and ascends beside the foaming stream over rocks and steps. The exciting section through the gorge is a short pleasure, then we meet the road again, shortly afterwards turn right below the Gaisalpe, and immediately keep left to hike up to the cozy Lower Richter alpine hut, 1140 m. The bulky mass of the Rubihorn now comes into our view. A path shortens two hairpin bends of a wide alpine trail, then we follow a path on the right over meadows and through forest patches into the Gaisalp valley and to the steep step at the end of the valley. The terrain becomes increasingly steep. Secured rock sections and stream beds must be overcome. We climb along an impressive waterfall and cross into a mountain bowl with a junction. On the right, a short descent
