The landscape through which this hike leads is a typical dispersed settlement area; the settlements are characterized by widely spaced hamlets and farms, surrounded by their meadows and fields. The green pasture-meadow landscape is a creation of the 19th century. Until then, the dominant color was blue, as the flax blossom from the extensive cultivation of flax and hemp colored the fields blue. Linen was produced from the flax, which the Ravensburg Trading Company sold through its widely spread offices across Europe. The decline came with the cheaper cotton from America and India, which was machine-woven from the end of the 18th century due to the invention of the steam engine. With this global competition and the new technology, the elaborate and time-consuming hand weaving of the Allgäu farmers could not compete.
We follow in Füramoos the unnamed but paved path that starts next to the house Ellwanger Straße 21 (on the left when driving out of town), after 120 m turn left and then straight ahead. After the intersection with the access road to a farm, the path loses its surface and soon takes a left turn. At the following T-junction, we turn left to the nearby country road and walk 200 m to the right on it. Then we turn left into the access road to the house Füramooserstraße 30 and follow for a short section the red bar of the HW 4. We walk past the former farm and about 5 minutes later turn left at the next house into the intersecting, wide Hohbäumleweg (the HW 4 turns right). We follow this path to its end, then hike right to the hamlet of Kemnat. In the village, we turn left and immediately again. 15 minutes later we walk on the district road 5 minutes to the right and then leave it at the second turn to the left. The path turns right, soon loses its surface, and at the edge of Dietenwengen
