From Wetzikon on the industrial educational trail to Bäretswil
Right at the beginning of our hike at Wetzikon, we pass a mill and a hammer mill that was later developed into a foundry and cultural factory. This was in 1980. It is the first of many interesting stations that bear witness to the industrialization of the region. Along the industrial educational trail to Bäretswil, we will encounter many such places. The Chämtnerbach, which flows through the eponymous ravine, was an important energy supplier at that time for the many different production branches that converted from pure handicraft to factory work in the Zurich Oberland. Such as spinning mills, weaving mills, and embroidery factories. The "Tobeltürme" illustrate how intensively the scarce hydropower was utilized with ingenious constructions at that time. Besides a lot of technical demonstration, there are many inviting resting places in the Chämtner ravine – especially idyllic are the "Giessen".
