From Vela to Cadine
The starting point is in Vela, at the terminus of bus line no. 6 and in front of the grocery shop. Turn left, cross a small bridge and continue along the road to the end of the village. At the crossroads, turn left and follow the waterfront. Actually, the path now continues along the mountain, but this section is closed due to possible falling rocks.
It is therefore better to follow the bank upstream on the left. Unfortunately, the road is asphalted and you have to follow it to the end, bypassing a car recycling yard and the entire length of the landfill, and if you do the walk on weekdays, you have to expect trucks going to the landfill. A sign warns not to pass if you are not involved in the work, but the walk is compulsory and the gravel path at the entrance to the dump is certainly not an option either (another access point is at the old Zambana, but again üvia a path under the mountain and later on the river bank). At the end of the Müllhalde, the road becomes more and more a forest road and shortly afterwards, on the left, SAT trail no. 611. Here you are in the Foci dell'Avisio biotope, a 14-hectare protected area that includes the Avisio estuaries but extends as far as the course of the Adige river (contrasted by the busy road) and reaches as far as the Foci del Noce near Mezzocorona further north.
