From the traditional wine-growing village of Sankt Martin, the tour leads past the summer residence of the Bavarian King Ludwig I to the Rietburg, one of the most attractive viewpoints on the Wine Route. The view from the terrace of the mountain inn is unique. Past an idyllic forest lake, it goes to the impressive Peace Monument on the Werderberg above Edenkoben.
We start at the bus stop on Maikammerer Straße in the wine village of Sankt Martin. Below the church, we turn left, pass the tourist information office on Kellereistraße and hike steeply uphill. At the Weinbergsweg, we turn left at the cozy loungers and go downhill to the Haardt Madonna. We turn right with a picturesque view through the vineyards to Kropsburg Castle. At the NABU nature reserve sign, we follow a right-left bend of the path. At a shelter with picnic benches, we hike down the paved path. We cross the road and follow the signs to Ludwigshöhe. The more pleasant path leads left after the Luitpoldstein and immediately right along the forest edge uphill. Albrecht Ritter
