Many people of all nationalities travel to the Cinque Terre, the five towns on the steep coast of Liguria, if they want to see the epitome of Italy. A national park was established here specifically to preserve its originality. Although the towns today — unlike in earlier times — are mostly accessible by car (except Vernazza), the towns have preserved their originality. In peak season, they can be crowded, but if you choose your timing well, you can still enjoy some moments of peace and the constantly fantastic views.
