From Pleschinger See to Steyregg
The route offers very beautiful views of the Mühlviertel mountains north of Linz from the Pöstlingberg to the Gis, in contrast to the pulsating Linz and the industrial plants. Peaceful is the return path along the Danube.
The starting point is the turnaround loop of LinzAG bus line 33 at Pleschinger See, where plenty of parking is also available. First, we follow the marking of the Danube Trail. We cross the channel, keep right and follow the lakeside path to Pleschinger Landesstraße. After crossing it, the hiking trail begins to the left in front of the Steckerlfischbrater towards Pfenningberg. We quickly gain elevation, repeatedly offering beautiful views of the Danube stream, captured in a picture by Oskar Kokoschka. Passing newly created vineyards, we leave the Danube Trail and asphalt at the second large farmhouse (Schöftner) to the right. Parallel to the Danube, the continuation leads first through forest, then at a dog farm in Obernbergen offers a deep view of Voest and the chemical park. After a short forest section, the path turns left into a ditch (Im Weih) and goes downhill to Steyregg.
