From Nyabitaba Hut through the rainforest to Nyakalangija
On this "farewell route" in the Ruwenzori, the rainforest belt of the outbound path is traversed once again, thus conveying the beauties of nature in the heart of Africa once more. Both flora and fauna can be enjoyed intensely before civilization approaches the national park gate and is finally reached again in the mountain village of Nyakalangija.
From the Nyabitaba hut, the path leads down again over the route already taken on the ascent through the rainforest towards the covered royal resting place and then further into the valley of the Mbuku River. After crossing the river on the suspension bridge, the path leads slightly uphill again before the final section leads through the lush rainforest out to the national park gate. With a bit of luck, monkeys, birds, vervet monkeys, or one of the rare resident three-horned chameleons (also Jackson's chameleon) can be spotted. After leaving the Ruwenzori National Park, the official certification by a national park ranger takes place before returning along the road (gravel track) back to the starting point of the Ruwenzori expedition, the mountain village of Nyakalangija.
