From Moutier via the Tour de Moron to Bellelay
The Moron is an elongated mountain in the Bernese Jura with wooded slopes and a broad ridge with isolated farms and typical Jura pastures. Parallel to the mountain runs the Vallée de Tavannes to the south, while a hilly, sparsely populated forest and pasture area extends to the north. On this hike, you cross the Moron lengthwise from east to west, which requires some endurance. From Moutier, you first walk leisurely along the Birs. Then just before Perrefitte, you go uphill over green meadows that glow lilac-violet in spring when thousands of crocuses bloom. At the Moron, by the elegant stone tower, you reach roughly the halfway point. You climb up the open spiral staircase to the platform, from where the view of the Jura chains and the arc of the Alps is extensive.
