Two monasteries, one lake, two rivers, and an unusual ferry – all this is offered by the hike from Seeon monastery to Baumburg monastery. Seeon monastery is beautifully located on the lake of the same name. It was founded over 1,000 years ago by Count Palatine Aribo and handed over to Benedictine monks. Baumburg monastery, high above the confluence of Alz and Traun Alz, is a former Augustinian canon monastery. Between the two monasteries, you walk in the valley or on the heights along the Alz. The path leads through splendid fields from which the poppies stand out brightly, but also through woods that provide shade on hot days. Both young and old will be delighted by the ferry crossing in Roiter; the ferrywoman appreciates a small tip. Speaking of drinks – the Baumburg monastery brewery can look back on more than 400 years of brewing tradition.
