From the hamlet of Mergugno high above Brissago, the path first goes up through the forest to the meadow clearing Pislone. Afterwards, we walk through a unique, protected laburnum forest, pass the area of Alpe Arolgia and shortly after reach the Capanna Al Legn in a wonderfully beautiful panoramic location high above Lago Maggiore. We continue our way to Bocchetta di Valle and then cross the steep northeast flank of the Gridone on the ascent. On the southeast ridge, we overcome the last section to the summit. At the highest point, we are rewarded with a breathtaking panorama which includes Milan to the south and the Valais four-thousanders to the west. For the descent, we choose the technically easier path over the southeast ridge. From Bocchetta di Valle, the outward and return paths are the same again.
