A very varied round takes us from the pilgrimage site Loretto up to the Buchkogel crowned by a lookout tower, one of the best viewpoint summits of the Leitha Mountains. Instead of the direct ascent, we choose the path via the former forester's house Schöner Jäger, so we can also visit the historic Kürschnergrube quarry.
From the bus stop at Gasthof Graf in Loretto we walk through the park up to the basilica and turn right before it. At the south corner of the main square, a narrow alley leads uphill on the left. It forks immediately; we take the left along the farm road Loretto Friedhofäcker up to the forest edge settlement (parking lot at its beginning). Here is a signpost pointing to »Eisenstadt ORF« and »Schöner Jäger«. We follow a red-marked field path slightly downhill to the right and reach a five-way crossroads at the valley floor, where we take the half-right direction towards Eisenstadt and Hornstein. The red-marked path continues to rise distinctly through the forest. At a fork, the path goes straight on towards Hornstein and Leithaprodersdorf; here we go left towards Eisenstadt and shortly reach the St. Crispin (wayside shrine), where the path splits; here, right (»Eisenstadt via Schöner Jäger«).
