This hike through fairy-tale fir trees decorated with moss and along steeply rising limestone walls is unique. The highlight is the highest waterfall in the Jura at 27 m, the Saut-du-Doubs. Those who want to see a thundering waterfall with foaming white water should choose the season (e.g., spring) and/or inquire beforehand. The hike is also pleasant in midsummer when, despite the great heat down in the gorge of the Doubs, pleasantly cool temperatures can be found. On both sides of the border, there are beautiful hiking trails with impressive views of the fall. The water of the Doubs, dammed by landslide debris 14,000 years ago, forms the four-kilometer-long and 200 m wide Lac des Brenets in the limestone walls up to 80 m high. Impressive is the twenty-minute boat trip through the elongated fjord between the restaurant by the fall and Les Brenets (available from the end of May to the end of September).
