This strenuous mountain hike leads from Lake Oeschinen above Kandersteg up to the Blüemlisalphütte. Fitness and surefootedness are absolutely necessary.
For a hut route to the Blüemlisalphütte, the demanding pass hike from the Kiental over the Hohtürli is often chosen. But it is also possible this way – and it is no less strenuous: From the mountain station of the Kandersteg-Oeschinensee cable car, choose the scenic path over the Heuberg. From there, it goes to Oberbärgli and then steeply over scree and rubble up to the Hohtürli and the Blüemlisalphütte which is perched just a few meters above. The Blüemlisalp group and Blüemlisalp glacier are always in view. The descent then follows the same route back to Oberbärgli, then over Underbärgli down to Lake Oeschinen. It's over 1200 knee-straining vertical meters from the hut down to the lake shore. There you can gladly take off your hiking boots and refresh your feet in the cold lake. A relaxed cool down then follows along the lakeshore path to the mountain hotels and further to the mountain station of the cable car.
