This hiking tour explores the lonely, hilly landscape between Hitzacker and Dannenberg. Larger forests, fields and meadows alternate. On the way we also visit Thunpadel, a village with a circular layout. Both Hitzacker and Dannenberg lie on the "German Half-Timbered Road" – for good reason, as the townscapes prove.
From the station building in Hitzacker, we turn left onto the street Am Bahnhof. After 2 minutes, we turn left and cross the railway tracks. Then left along Sarensecker Weg, which curves right away from the railway line and leads us through a settlement and further towards the forest. There, already in the forest, at a right curve, a wide sandy forest path branches straight off the road, passing the back of the Vordorfsfeld forest settlement and then making a left bend. We now reach a crossroads, ignore the right turn towards Sarenseck and continue straight ahead. 5 minutes later, still before reaching the edge of the forest, we walk right on the sandy path to the next fork. Here we turn left and reach a cross path, where it first goes right to the edge of the forest, but then immediately left into the forest and at the intersection there again to the left towards the B 216.After crossing it, our path continues in the forest.
