The Riedberger Horn is probably the best-known mountain in the Nagelfluhkette Nature Park. The solitary pyramid rises to about 1787 meters and offers a 360-degree unobstructed view of the High Alps and Lake Constance.
Few mountains allow us to experience the variety of habitats in the nature park on such a small scale as here. The Grasgehren basin is shaped by extensive high-altitude peatlands, adjacent to forests in the so-called Kampflwald zone. We are near the tree line.
Due to the nutrient-rich rock, flysch, here you find magnificent flower meadows and numerous insects.
The Riedberger Horn is also the habitat of the endangered capercaillie. With some luck, you can observe the rare birds in the treetops.
