This easy hike in the upper Emmental leads from Eggiwil over the Chapf, also called Chapfwacht, and as a circular route back to the starting point.
The Chapf, also called Chapfwacht, is a pretty viewpoint hill near Eggiwil in the upper Emmental. We start the hike at the bus stop, walk to the Dörflibrücke, which crosses the Röthenbach, and there we encounter the Eggiwil House and Bridge Trail. This trail runs from Eggiwil to Aeschau, or vice versa, and leads past beautiful farmhouses and covered wooden bridges that testify to the Emmental carpentry craft. The House and Bridge Trail can be well combined in time with the circular route over the Chapf, either before or after. Over field, forest, and also asphalt paths, we quickly reach Chapfschwand and from there with a final ascent the Chapf. A nice resting place where we like to sit a little longer. Those who have Cervelats in their backpacks can make a fire at the grill site at Junkholz on the way down. The hike then ends again in Eggiwil, where you can relax by the Emme or visit one of the restaurants.
