Start at Draßburg station. Cross the level crossing and turn right into Augasse. After about 200 m turn right and pass through an underpass beneath the railway track. We cross Mühlgasse and walk on a footpath (Kolovajka) into the town centre. Past the Marian column onto the main square, there - at the height of the John of Nepomuk chapel - turn left into Schlossgasse.
Past Draßburg castle, across Baumgartnerstraße (Holy Florian wayside shrine) and straight ahead up stairs on a footpath to the cemetery (chapel with memorial plaques). To the upper exit, here half-left onto a track, shortly afterwards right and in a left curve up to the Black Cross (viewpoint, info book about the local semi-dry grassland).
Continue on a field path, past a resting place, in a southwesterly direction to a junction. Half-right to the forest edge. Here left (signpost towards Kogelberg) and on a forest road into the extensive Draßburg forest. On the marked forest road (or alternatively northwest of it on less wide unmarked paths) about 3 km through the forest.
Finally at a crossroads at the edge of a meadow turn right, about 100 m later at the next junction left (both with signposts) and onto the northwest ridge of Marzer Kogel. Here left along the edge of a meadow, soon on a path into the forest to the summit, which we cross to the east. The path then turns northeast and we reach again the junction at the edge of the meadow we have passed earlier.
On a farm track to the east, past a few huts to a junction. Here right onto a lane to a nearby junction. Here left (shorter option: straight ahead). On the main route about 1 km on the lane (info boards) to a fork, where we keep right.
After about 250 m again right onto an unmarked field path which we follow to a somewhat lower lane. Here left. About 1 km to a junction, now right (signpost to Rohrbach). After about 250 m onto an unmarked grassy field path that turns left after about 100 m. With a nice view of the pond meadows to the Holzinger Cross (info book about the pond meadows).
Continue onto Wieserberg, which we also cross. Still following the field path - with a short detour to a viewing platform (panorama board) - then northwest to a row of trees (stream). Here right. After 200 m left over the stream, immediately right again and now continuing southwest on the other side of the stream. After a few minutes the path turns right and reaches a lane. Here left, before the railway line right (info boards), past the tennis hut (refreshments, closed Thursday), then left and through an underpass beneath the railway line, at the Sebastian Cross right and on a footpath next to the road to Marz-Rohrbach station.
