An almost mystical chapel ruin next to a "healing" spring marks the start of a varied tour. In contrast, the remains of the Maginot Line, which we encounter several times on the hike, appear rather threatening. Reassuring is the thought that no battles took place here. Finally, a spectacular view awaits us at Soultzerkopf, where the Club Vosgien operates a hut on Sundays.
In the town center of Climbach, at the roundabout, we follow the brown sign to the chapel and take the first left. On the asphalt path, we hike up to the edge of the forest and find the yellow rectangle pointing towards Col du Pfaffenschlick, which guides us throughout the outward journey. Passing the parking lot to the right, after a few meters, we reach the ruins of the Chapelle de Climbach with the Climbronn fountain below, whose water was believed to have healing powers in the Middle Ages. The chapel was built in the 13th century on the site of a pagan cult place and was destroyed in the Thirty Years' War. Stone marks on the arch indicate that it was probably built by the same craftsmen who constructed the St. Jean Church in Wissembourg. We continue straight, turn left after 5 minutes and come to a T-junction. There, we take the path going downhill to the right and reach the crossroads Carrefour de 3 forêts, where we go straight on. Albrecht Ritter
