From Cap Roig to Platja de Castell
The Jardí Botànic at Cap Roig, south of Llafranc, is the starting point for this beautiful loop hike, which begins through dense pine and cork oak forests along the ridgeline, then down to the popular Platja de Castell, past the ruins of a Roman settlement, and back, always close to the sea, where charming coves invite you to rest and swim. Halfway along the route, you can easily stop to visit the “Barraca d’en Dalí”—a small stone hut that the master had built for Gala, his beloved.
At the GR-92 hiking sign, we take the trail up to Cap Roig. To the left lies the Jardí botànic grounds; we follow the signs toward Roques d’Ase. Ascending gradually along the trail, which offers views of the sea and the countryside, we pass several junctions where we always follow the GR markings. At an old marker stone, we reach the highest point; shortly after that, we come to a wooden post, and 10 meters beyond it, a path (marked by a cairn) descending to the right, which we follow. After a few minutes, we pass a white house, then continue along the dirt road through the forest until we reach the road with signposts; from there, we turn left toward the parking lot at Platja de Castell. We stay to the left along the beach and head toward a white building, where we come across signposts: the path to the left leads to the Barraca d’en Dalí. The path, marked with wooden posts slightly to the left, meets the wide trail further up, which we follow to a nearby signpost. Turn right there,
