The medieval town of Bremgarten with its beautiful local character is one of the gems among the small Swiss towns. However, the Reuss town is known not only because of its old town but also because of its centuries-old market tradition: Easter market, Pentecost market, old town market, autumn market, flea and antique market, Christmas market, etc. The hike on a pleasantly sandy path along the meandering Reuss river leads through an important nature reserve – an ideal habitat for animals and plants. Information boards explain the significance of the designated zones. The floodplain area in the lower Reuss valley is divided into two sections: The first – between Bremgarten and Mellingen – begins with extensive meanders in regularly flooded floodplain areas.
