It is an eye-catcher on many paths in the Tölzer Land, which it faces with its show side, a backdrop mountain on hundreds of Bavarian tourism brochures, calendar motif and – of course – a popular hiking destination. Marked trails lead from all sides to the Benediktenwand, which is almost as high and almost as famous as the (Swiss) Rigi. Who now holds the crown of the most beautiful viewing platform, who knows? The location on the edge of the Alps is comparable, as are the views into the mountains and out into the flatland, into the gently rolling green, to the lakes. And in the wide panorama of the Benediktenwand you can even spot a "Rigi": the Peißenberg, 988 m, easily identifiable by the huge antenna mast and dubbed the "Upper Bavarian Rigi" because of its view … The real mountains, however, are in the south, two- and three-thousanders, rock and firn: Wilder Kaiser, Hohe Tauern with Großglockner and Großvenediger, Rofan, Karwendel, Ötztal Alps, Wetterstein with Zugspitze, Lechtal Alps, Ammergebirge. What a spectacle!
Conveniently transported up from the valley station by the Brauneckbahn, you are rarely alone on the way to the Benediktenwand, but the hustle and bustle is limited to the (decorated with several managed huts) surroundings of the mountain station, less than 10 minutes below the Brauneck, 1555 m. Already behind the Schrödelstein, 1548 m, which is circumnavigated on the descending left, the hiking column gradually dissolves. Over the rock-strewn ridge, the path ascends to the Stangeneck, 1646 m; after a short descent, the trail runs directly to the Vorderer Kirchstein, then turns to the Latschenkopf, 1712 m. Here the Benediktenwand comes into view, on the right behind the Achselköpfe. First, however, it goes down to the Feichtecksattel, 1628 m, then further down passing the "Köpfe" on the north side. At the foot of the rock, 1460 m (signpost), you leave the path to the left and climb a rocky trail to the Rotohrsattel, 1670 m, where the approach from the Tutzinger Hut joins. Here you go
