The history of Bichl has long been closely linked to that of Benediktbeuern Monastery. The hill on which St. George's Church stands was once the meeting place and court of the monastery court. The church itself was also built in 1751/52 by the famous baroque architect Johann Michael Fischer on behalf of the former Benedictine monastery. Richly decorated with frescoes, it is one of the most artistically impressive village churches in Bavaria. In the Baroque period, Bichl was regarded as the craftsmen's village in the Benediktbeuern monastery region. It provided the majority of the monastery's construction team and the leading craftsmen came from here.
From Bichl station, 615 m, we turn briefly to the right and then turn left twice, always following the signs to Loisach and Moosweg. This brings us to the edge of the village, where we pass the tracks on the left. Now we continue straight ahead, crossing the main road on a bridge. Ignoring all the forks, we pass a meadow and reach an oxbow lake, which the paved path passes on the left. We then continue immediately half right on a gravel path, which takes us to a bench under birch trees on the Loisach, 595 m. Now we follow the course of the river lined with willows to the left past meadows and woods. We pass under a bridge and cross the main road. We walk through remnants of moorland forest and past a wooden hut. At the next crossroads, 594 m, we turn left towards Benediktbeuern. The gravel path leads to the Hochmoorpfad, 594 m, via which we can make a small extension; we then rejoin the main path just under 100 m later.
