From Berneuse to Leysin

In Leysin, some buildings appear freshly renovated, while other facades reveal that the heyday of the air and mountain health resorts, such as those for tuberculosis patients, is over. At the latest at the summit of Berneuse, where the mirrored facade of the rotating restaurant Kuklos stands out, it becomes clear that Leysin has long overcome the health resort crisis and is now a modern tourist destination. Our path leads down to Lac d'Âi and then left to the reservoir lake. Then it goes suddenly steeply downhill. But soon a fork follows, and our path continues with only slight ups and downs, but along steep slopes to Col de Luissel. Wonderful is the view to the south to the Aiguilles du Midi and to the west to the peaks around the Cornettes de Bise and Lake Geneva, unless it is covered by a sea of fog. From Col du Luissel, it continues over the summit of Riondaz, where the view now sweeps in all directions, down to the Solacyre refuge and via Prafandaz to Leysin.
