On the Hungarian side of Lake Neusiedl, there are only a few paths that bring you closer to the several kilometers wide, dense reed belt here. However, the elevation level in the south offers beautiful viewpoints. At its most beautiful, the remarkable Gloriette of Fertőboz (Holling) was built, from which you can even see the open water in the distance.
We start the tour at the church square (Templom tér) in Balf by the evangelical church and walk north on the street towards Fertőrákos. After 5 minutes, we turn right into Fertő utca, which we follow to the outskirts of the village. Here, next to a horse paddock, the path splits. We go half-right along the edge of a small forest, cross a wide concrete bridge and then turn left behind it.After 500 meters, we take the first right and follow a field path through the steppe-like lake foreland. After about 5 minutes, it turns left and immediately after right. From the left behind, another path joins; we continue half-right. Fifteen minutes later, another path joins from the right behind. Fifty meters later, we follow the main path to the right, come to an asphalt road, and walk on a parallel pedestrian and bike path left into the village of Fertőboz.We pass a bus stop and a snack bar.
