From Arco through the Valle del Sarca

The hike through the Valle valley and up to the Cima Colodri begins near the historic center of Arco, which with its charming old town and impressive castle ruins already radiates a special atmosphere. Shortly after the start you quickly gain altitude and are soon rewarded with wide views of the Sarca valley. The landscape is characterized by steep, vegetated rock faces, Mediterranean vegetation, and the typical contrast between the rugged limestone walls and the gentle lines of the hill landscape around Lake Garda.

The path leads through a varied backdrop of pines, fragrant macchia vegetation, and repeatedly exposed rocks. The Cima Colodri itself is not a high peak, but its freestanding location makes it a unique viewpoint: from the top, you look directly onto Arco, the castle ruins, the vineyards in the valley, and in the distance the northern part of Lake Garda, which stretches like a silvery ribbon between the mountains.

Characteristic for this route is its closeness to Arco’s climbing tradition: along the way you discover several entrances to well-known sport climbing routes, and the Cima Colodri itself is a classic destination for alpine climbing in easier terrain. For this reason, you often encounter people here with ropes and helmets who conquer the mountain by a more direct route.
