From Alpe Foppa to Capanna Tamaro
“Fun is a must” – this applies especially to Monte Tamaro in Ticino. More precisely: to Alpe Foppa. Toboggan run, children's playground, zip line, and at the mid-station of the gondola there is also a rope park, providing fun and thrills. From Rivera, you float up by gondola, directly to the church of Santa Maria degli Angeli. Like a stranded ship, the church clings to the mountain slope. From the viewing balcony, with cross and bell tower, you enjoy a beautiful view of the Magadino plain. A comfortable path leads up to Capanna Tamaro. It was built in 1941, renovated in 1953, and enlarged in 1988. The sunny terrace invites you to stay, stones painted by children decorate the surroundings, and a range of homemade cakes is laid out in the shade of the house wall. What a paradise! The return is by the same path; those who wish can also climb Monte Tamaro (1962 m) from the hut. The ascent from Capanna Tamaro to the summit takes about 40 minutes.
