In the landscape of the Fricktal, the hiker moves on historically significant ground. This is also expressed by the signposts of the Fricktaler Höhenweg, which feature a green linden leaf. This is the emblem of the former canton of Fricktal, which is meant to point to the turbulent past of the border region between the Jura and the Rhine. The Fricktaler Höhenweg leads from the Zähringer town of Rheinfelden over the heights of the table Jura to Frick and further to the wine-growing village of Mettau. Typical are the wonderful hills with great views over the patchwork quilt landscape of Fricktal: These include, for example, Sonnenberg with its lookout tower, Chriesibärg, Tiersteinberg, Schinberg, Cheisacher, and Laubberg. After the Schupfart airfield, the beautiful forest path leads over the ridge of the Tiersteinberg nature reserve.
