The perfectly marked Fricktal High Trail from Rheinfelden to Mettau covers about 60 kilometers. At least two full hiking days are therefore needed to complete it in its entire length. This suggestion picks out a particularly varied section and leads through the heart of this region, which is known for its many cherry trees and shines in a sea of white blossoms for a few weeks in spring.
Already at the Mitteldorf bus stop in Zeiningen we see the first of numerous blue signposts of the Fricktal High Trail, which will reliably accompany us throughout the entire hike. First quite steeply upwards, then as a scenic high trail into the Spitzgraben and up to the flat plateau of Chriesiberg, a typical elevation of the Table Jura. Slightly higher, but just as flat, is the Lohnberg, our next destination. Now on field paths and little trafficked side roads to Wabrig with a beautiful panoramic bench and on to Schupfart airfield, which makes the hearts of all aviation fans beat faster. Down to the main road; here begins the steady ascent to Tiersteinberg, the "mountain prize" of our hike. At the Fazedelle signpost, the path turns sharply, and we hike on the initially not very pronounced ridge to the highest point of Tiersteinberg, 750 m (not specially marked).
