On the approximately four-kilometer-long hike along the Freilingen forest nature trail, you will learn not only about 39 different tree species but also about the diversity of nature.
The Freilingen forest nature trail stretches over four kilometers, where you can learn more about the diversity of nature and 39 different tree species.
At each tree along your way, you will find informative signs. These provide information such as the tree's origin and blooming period, among other details. For even more information about each tree species, a QR code is available, allowing access to additional details. Among the 39 different tree species are some that have been honored as Tree of the Year. Furthermore, the forest sections impress with their native flora, fauna, and a relaxed silence to enjoy and unwind.
Particularly exciting is the fact that the children’s mascot AHRtur accompanies you during your route. This makes the forest nature trail an ideal activity for families with children, who can have an entertaining and educational experience.

Roadbook
To reach the forest nature trail, start at the Freilingen sports ground. From there, walk about 200 meters along the path towards the holiday village. Then turn left into the forest.
Public transport
Public-transport-friendly
You can reach Blankenheim (Wald) station via a SEV (rail replacement service) from Mechernich. From Blankenheim (Wald), you have a connection to bus line 832, which takes you to Freilingen. Get off at the stops "Freilinger See Camp Abzw." or "Reetzer Straße."
Please note that bus line 832 sometimes operates as a taxi bus. In this case, you must register your trip by phone at least 30 minutes before departure at +49 2441 - 99 45 45 45.
