A natural hiking route around the small wine-growing community of Kirschroth, which leads through a varied landscape, across meadows, fields, through forest and vineyards.
The circular route starts at the outskirts of Kirschroth. The route leads clockwise through a small stream valley to the elevations lying to the south. Forest, meadows, and arable land alternate in small sections. The view from the highest elevation, the Limbacher Höhe at 453 m, offers a 360-degree panorama, from the heights of the Soonwald in the north to the Palatinate Mountains in the south. Via a natural field path and through mixed deciduous forest, we change direction and head north. The path through the deciduous forest runs along a ridge after a short ascent, flanked by huge ant hills. Surrounded by vineyards, we reach the "Most Beautiful Wine View," a rest area with a small shelter and an impressive view into the Nahe valley. Through the side valley of the Nahe valley, we walk southwest back to our starting point at Kirschroth.

Roadbook
We start along the sports field towards the village exit and after a few meters turn right, running uphill at the edge of the village. Reaching the hilltop, we turn left. With Kirschroth at our back, we follow the long rows of the vineyard to the end and pass a young tree stand on a small ridge on the right before it steeply descends to the right. Already halfway down, we hear the rushing of the stream. This sound accompanies us to the Kirschroth ponds, artificially created rainwater retention basins that have developed into a true biotope over the years. It is not uncommon to encounter toads, ducks, and herons here.
We soon come across a short paved section, which we follow to the right into the forest.
In the "Buchwald," the community forest, the path steadily ascends before we turn right onto the old Roman road, coming from Meddersheim. If we briefly leave the marked path by crossing the junction straight ahead, we reach the "Kreuzeiche," a centuries-old landmark of the Kirschroth community, after a few hundred meters. Back on the Roman road, we shortly leave the forest with a view of wide fields and make another ascent. Every meter of elevation gives more view of the Kirschroth community, which is now behind us again.
The view from the summit, known as "Adolph's Rest" after a former forester, into the Kirschroth vineyards rewards the climb and a cozy bench invites to a little break. We now cross the first municipal boundary to the neighboring village of Bärweiler to the east.
Soon after the rest, we leave the gravel paths for a few hundred meters and circle a small wood over meadows before reaching the "Limbacher Kreuz." Over a short paved section, our path runs to the right towards the Limbacher Höhe, the next ridge. Following signs, turning left after a tree stand, the path ascends again.
At the highest point, called "By the Bunkers" by locals in memory of the now invisible WWII defensive structures, we again enjoy the view of the Kirner Land before following the path to the right. If you did not use the opportunity to rest earlier, there is a rest area with a 360-degree view available after a few hundred meters.
The first stage of the path is now almost finished and it goes downhill. After forest fields and meadows, we reach the vineyards at the "Harras" again, from where we enjoy a wonderful view of Kirschroth with its landmark, the Evangelical Church "St. Martin" built in 1830.
So far, we have been on the way for seven kilometers. Now we can choose: either return through the vineyards to the village or feel invited to the second section, which will lead us to Meddersheim.
Part two begins again with an ascent. Leaving the forest at the top, under favorable conditions and sufficient quiet, you can often observe roe deer, which venture out of the thicket in the scarcely trafficked area on the border to Merxheim.
Much smaller animals will meet us frequently along the route. The path along the ridge is lined with huge ant hills that often stretch several meters. Especially in this section, we will experience and enjoy the enormous peace and seclusion.
After the path now leads downhill, we soon see the region's viticulture again, reinforcing the feeling of being in the Nahe region after a descent toward Meddersheim. At the "Most Beautiful Wine View Nahe 2016," an idyllic rest area with a small shelter and a view that reaches, in good weather, to the Lemberg in Bad Kreuznach awaits us.
A few more meters downhill, the path turns right. We now follow the signage mostly through the vineyards back towards Kirschroth. The view of the places we have already left behind opens up gradually on this section: Adolph's Rest, Limbacher Höhe, and Harras. We enter the community through the "Rose Gate to Wildgrafenberg" at "Zecherstein," which is also operated on many Sundays in summer.
