The path mostly runs on unpaved forest ground. Watch out for roots, rocks, and stones to avoid stumbling. After rainy days and especially in spring and autumn, the paths can be wet and therefore slippery.

Roadbook
The route begins at the Krumbachtal hiking car park north of Bobenheim am Berg (next to the waterworks). At the display board, the path is marked with the number 4. You start on the narrow path between the vineyard on your right and the green belt on your left. This makes a left turn after about 100 m. You follow the number 4 signage over two elongated arcs uphill. You pass a sign with the "Palatinate Wine Trail" symbol and reach the first houses of the village before you meet the main road. Here a short detour to the right to the lightning pipes in the slope below the castle ruin on the road is worthwhile. Then you head back towards the village and can turn right to reach the castle ruins.
The path itself continues along the main road into the village. At the intersection at the Hahn-Pahlke winery, keep left and continue straight ahead following the number 4 route signage. At the end of the road, turn left into Waldstraße, go downhill, and switch to the narrow forest path (attention! tree with signage has fallen, go straight ahead).
At the end of the path, turn left onto the main path and continue until you reach the "Water Protection Area" sign. From here, follow route number 5 (the first sign is located on a power pole on the left side of the path). This leads you back to the starting point – the car park in Krumbachtal.

From the Bobenheim am Berg/Winzer stop, walk through the village towards Kleinkarlbach. The Krumbachtal car park is approximately 300m past the village exit on the left.

Directions
From the North:
Motorway A6, exit Grünstadt/Deutsche Weinstraße towards Bad Dürkheim on the B271. Exit Kleinkarlbach/Altleiningen. In Kleinkarlbach turn left towards Bobenheim am Berg. You pass the junction to Battenberg and turn left after about 200m to the Krumbachtal hiking car park.
From the South:
Motorway A61 at the Ludwigshafen junction onto the A650 towards Bad Dürkheim. At the end of the expanded section, continue straight towards the Trift/Grünstadt industrial estate. At the second traffic light turn right towards Ungstein. At the roundabout take the third exit towards Ungstein/Grünstadt. Continue towards Grünstadt via the B271 (German Wine Route) to Herxheim am Berg. At the traffic light in Herxheim am Berg turn left to Weisenheim am Berg. Follow the bypass road from Weisenheim am Berg to the right towards Bobenheim am Berg and drive through the village. About 300m after the village exit, the Krumbachtal hiking car park is on the left.
