On this special, marshy route, you can get to know the Tiszavirág floodplain promenade and nature trail, and the Örvény pákász nature trail during a short yet experience-filled route.
Located on one of the dry areas of the Tisza Lake, this 1500-meter-long nature trail offers a great experience for both children and adults. Tickets can be purchased at Szabics harbor in Tiszaörvény; this includes the ferry fee as well. Through ten stations, you can get acquainted with the fascinating world of mayflies. Along the way, we can admire the view from three lookouts, reflecting in the two inner lakes, Borzonat and Göbe. There are also three suitable picnic spots where you can learn about the unique local wildlife while snacking.
The most interesting part is a small detour called the pákász trail, introducing the former swamp life. On this adventurous, muddy, and slippery path, rubber boots and a stick are provided before crossing. Those seeking unforgettable experiences can even splash barefoot all the way through. The farthest point of the walk leads to the inner lake, Göbe. A boat awaits on its shore to explore the water surface. From the lookouts, we can admire the lakes and the surrounding wildlife.
The detailed description of the route can be read under the Description menu.

Itinerary
- During the route, the KT markings will guide us.
- We will make a round-trip detour on the PT marking.
Detailed description of the route
After purchasing the entrance ticket at Szabics harbor, we cross to the far shore by ferry, then proceed straight north to reach the Gémek Tower (lookout). After observing, we return a few hundred meters on the same path we came from, then cross a bridge. Along the way, the KT markings will lead us all the way.
The turnoff for the pákász trail is shown by the PT marking. Although this is a round-trip path, almost like a dead end, it’s worth not skipping because of the views, experiences, and the many interesting facts you will learn about this peculiar craft.
The next adventurous place is a boat crossing where you can pull yourself to the far shore using a stretched rope. After docking, another lookout invites us up high. Then we get back into a boat, pulling a rope instead of paddling, to return to the KT marked route.
We reach the Tiszavirág tower, where again we can view the landscape from a bird’s-eye perspective. It’s worth continuing the exploration on the water by boating on the wind-shaped inner lake.
The paths are excellently marked with painted signs, making it impossible to get lost.
