Along the way, shortly behind the "Alte Hölle" you pass a wildlife enclosure. Here you can safely look the wild boar right in the eyes.
Furthermore, there is the at least second highest elevation of the state and the pride of the Fläming, the Hagelberg. Whether 200 or 201 meters does not matter much, but the elevation is noticeable.
In Belzig, Eisenhardt Castle is recommended, but for satisfying your hunger you should not choose the sinfully expensive restaurant in the castle. Down in the town, there are plenty of reasonably priced inns.
The route continues on an unpaved road to Weitzgrund, subjectively the smallest village in Brandenburg with an estimated population of 19 plus riding guests. There is no bus here, you feel on the edge of the world, which has its own charm.
The neighboring village is called Verlorenwasser, but before that, you still pass the center of the former GDR, with the possibility to rest and to leave your mark in the guestbook. In Belzig or directly in Verlorenwasser, you can ask locals about the origin of the name, quite interesting.
It goes over the Werbiger Heide, a rectangular field in the middle of the forest, which is exclusively covered with heather, if you disregard a few small pines. In autumn, there are strangely red "blooming", thumb-nail-sized mushrooms here. On the Briesener Hills, there is a good view towards the north before it goes to the plateau.
Continuing on old LPG slab roads, you finally reach the road between Meßdunk and Reckahn. Here choose the way towards Reckahn and continue there to the Autobahn lake. Not intended for swimming, but there is a feeding rack and good places to sleep, the motorway noise is surprisingly subtle.
For more conditioned hikers, the Malge on the Havel is recommended. It is a bit further, but with a swimming area. Here you can take a tram to the Brandenburg main station.
