Felsenwald - Premium hiking trail Pirmasens
Note: Beckenhofer Street partially closed from February 17! See CURRENT INFO
Easy to moderate half-day hike over narrow paths through the rock landscape and dense forest around Pirmasens.
The route starts at the popular excursion restaurant Beckenhof.
Pure nature is the motto in the Pirmasens Felsenwald.
See for yourself and follow the marking, which runs 13.6 km on soft, springy forest floor. Enjoy the play of sunlight on the forested route, interrupted by bright clearings and idyllic, water-rich valleys. Listen to the music of the forest.
Not to forget the sandstone rock formations, which line up like pearls on a string along the Felsenwald path.
Hiking and breathing fresh air creates a great appetite and thirst. Stop by the Forsthaus Beckenhof or the Palatinate Forest House Starkenbrunnen. Strengthened for the last stage, you can enjoy nature again and hike to the start of the tour via the Felsenwald circular route.
We hope you recharge your mood on your hike and return as a "repeat hiker" on the Felsenwald path, as it is an unforgettable experience in every season.

Safety information
General information:
Especially in autumn, it is important to note that the leaves lying on the ground can conceal unevenness, roots, stones, or holes in the path. After thunderstorms or heavy rain, trees can still fall or branches can break off. Especially in adverse weather conditions, natural paths can become muddy and slippery. Not all rocks or precipices are secured with ropes or railings. Some sections require sure-footedness. You must expect such path impairments when hiking. If you think certain sections are not passable for you, you should bypass them.
NOTE:
We strive to announce all closures caused by forestry work or hunting societies on this platform. Nevertheless, there are situations where hiking trails are closed and we may not have been informed. If you unexpectedly encounter a trail closure or detour, please follow the instructions for your own safety.

Roadbook
The route starts at Forsthaus Beckenhof and leads after a few minutes of walking to the first highlight, the rock gate. From there it goes down into the Glastal with the Glastal spring. At the end of the valley, the path turns left, uphill to the Schillerwall. On path-like trails, it now goes to the rock formations Broken Rocks and Luitpoldfelden and continues to the hairpin bend in front of the prayer book, which can be reached after 50 m. Then it goes to the Kugel Rock, from which there is a good view of the ice pond located in the valley. This is followed by the descent to the ice pond, on the shore of which numerous benches invite you to rest. Then it goes uphill again through the Mordloch, past the Anvil Rock, until the forest parking lot Platte is reached. Now the path leads down to the Goat Rocks and Kanzel Rocks. The route passes the forest parking lot at K 36 and now turns towards the PWV hut Starkenbrunnen. After a short climb, past the Hammelsweiher, the tour ends at the starting point Forsthaus Beckenhof.
