This village, consisting of alpine pastures, hay barns, huts, and a small church just above Vals, is waiting to be discovered. It all began in the Middle Ages when some farmers from Mühlbach wanted to escape the plague that raged in the valley and decided to move to the mountains. Later, the place was used for cattle breeding and became the starting point for many hikes. Today, the Fane Alm enjoys the reputation of being one of the most beautiful alpine pastures in South Tyrol. The starting point is the parking lot in Vals, Berg am Boden at 1390 m. There is a shuttle bus with a fee running to the Alm, but we recommend the footpath, also called the Milk Path. Information boards, games, and replicas of animals, all related to milk, turn the one-hour hike into an exciting ascent (sometimes moderate incline).
